We can also deliver to the Gorge area. Volume discounts are available for farms or large projects. We have detailed lab results; if you’re interested please contact us. Here’s a menu of what’s on tap at the Black Gold Mine.
Compost – $38/yd
Dirt Hugger compost is a dark, rich, Organic compost made from local Gorge yard debris, local fruit, food-processor organic waste, and food from our commercial curbside program. Our compost will increase your soil’s organic content, water retention, soil structure, as well as provide plant-nutrient content. We screen this compost to less than 3/8” size, and it is perfect for amending those sandy loam soils in the Columbia Gorge. We always recommend the best practice for applying Dirt Hugger compost is topdress 2-3” thick, and till it 6-8” deep into existing soil. The compost will provide the organic content and high nutrients, and your local soil will provide the mineral content creating a balanced environment for your plant growth.
50/50 Blend – $35/yd
Dirt Hugger 50/50 Blend was initially created for those newly built raised beds for the spring gardener. As it sounds, it is 50% Dirt Hugger Compost and 50% local Gorge soil, that has been screened to less than 3/8” in size. The Blend is plant-in ready with a balance of that high organic and nutrient content provided by the compost, and mineral content found in local Gorge soil. The blend is also recommended for any landscaping projects where tilling the local soil is not possible or undesirable. (Note: the topsoil component of this product is not guaranteed to be weed seed or pathogen free as it has not been through the composting process- which is true of most any topsoil you find).
Topsoil – $ 30/yd
Our topsoil is a local Gorge soil product from excavation projects, which has been screened to 3/8” minus. Great for any fill material projects.
Compost Mulch – $25/yd

Bark Mulch – $35/yd
Classic red fir decorative bark mulch screened to 2” minus. Great for landscaped beds or paths.
